Welcome
Welcome to our website. This site was created for the Arkansas County Bicentennial Celebration. It is a work in progress and we hope to gather as much information as possible. Several students began researching the history of the square in 2004 as an EAST Lab project at DeWitt High School. This information was stored away on a computer, but became very valuable this year. It is amazing how one thing that three students found interesting and wanted to find out all they could, became important to students in 2014.
For the celebration, we wanted to create a walking tour of the square. Walking around the square, you will see QR codes that direct you to information about that building. We hope to update those codes to direct you to this website and the information we have gathered about the history of each building, including photos that the citizens of DeWitt have shared with us. Please be patient with our progress. We hope to make this a project that will continue to grow and be important to future students and citizens of DeWitt.
